ROBERTS BREAKS SCORING RECORD AS NAZ TOPS ALFRED
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior Allison Roberts (Irondequoit HS/Rochester, NY) scored five goals and added one assist Thursday to become Nazareth's all-time leading scorer and lift the Golden Flyers to a 14-5 victory over Alfred University in women's lacrosse.

Roberts now has 295 career points on 167 goals and 128 assists. She broke the mark held by current Nazareth assistant coach Sarah Burns since 2000.

Roberts scored all of her points in the first half as the Golden Flyers were building a 12-3 lead. Roberts and sophomore Stephanie Smolos (Penn Yan Academy/Penn Yan, NY) scored just seven seconds apart early in the first half to give the Golden Flyers a 2-0 lead. Later in the half, just 14 seconds separated goals by Roberts and Shawna Kabot (Horseheads HS/Horseheads, NY) and Nazareth's lead reached 4-0.

The lead reached 8-0 behind three more goals by Roberts and another by Smolos before Alfred broke through on a goal by Chris Sanford (Mt. Ararat HS/Bowdoinham, ME).

Kabot and Smolos each finished with three goals for Nazareth, while junior Lorra Podsiadlo contributed one goal and two assists. Regina Atria (Lindenhurst HS/Lindenhurst, NY) and Lindsey Evershed (Fairprt HS/Fairport, NY) also scored for the Golden Flyers, who improved to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in Empire 8 Conference play.

Junior Katie Sedgwick (Fayetteville-Manlius HS/Manlius, NY) scored twice for Alfred (2-4 overall, 0-2 E8) and Lindsay deCsipkes (Unionville HS/Unionville, PA) added one goal and one assist.
