Nazareth outscores Brockport, 19-5, in NYSWCAA women's lacrosse

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nazareth sophomore Allison Roberts (Irondequoit HS/Rochester, NY) amassed a career-best 10 points on five goals and five assists Wednesday as the top-seeded Golden Flyers outscored Brockport, 19-5, in the opening round of the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association women's lacrosse tournament.

The victory vaults Nazareth into Saturday's NYSWCAA tournament semifinals at Rensselaer. The Golden Flyers will play fourth-seeded Skidmore at 12 noon. The championship game is Sunday at 2:30 p.m. also at Rensselaer.

The Golden Flyers (14-2, ranked 19th nationally) scored the game's first 11 goals before Brockport got on the scoreboard just prior to halftime. Roberts contributed three goals and three assists in that stretch and junior Sue Hollister (West Genesee HS/Syracuse, NY) added three goals and one assist. Brockport scored the first goal of the second half to draw within 11-2, but the Golden Flyers erased any comeback thoughts by scoring four straight goals. Senior Sarah Burns (Cicero-North Syracuse HS/Cicero, NY) scored two of those goals; Roberts and junior Jen Felber (Penfield HS/Penfield, NY) had the others.

Hollister finished with four goals and two assists overall and senior Maya Lambiase (Irondequoit HS/Rochester, NY) had four goals and one assist. Burns had three goals and two assists.
