NAZARETH UPENDS LE MOYNE 10-8
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior midfielder P.J. Rosencrans (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna) scored the game-tying and go-ahead goals to lead No. 5 Nazareth past No. 4 Le Moyne 10-8 in a non-conference men's lacrosse game before 750 people at Coyne Field.

Senior Eric Goodberlet (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) led all scorers with three goals. Nazareth (4-0), ranked fifth in Division III, knocks off its second consecutive Division II heavyweight. The Golden Flyers beat the nation's second-ranked Division II team, Adelphi, 13-11 on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins (2-1) have not beaten Nazareth since a 13-9 win at Nazareth in 1986.

Nazareth jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one quarter, but Le Moyne stormed back with four scores in the second to take a 5-3 lead at the intermission. Freshman Corey Sullivan (LaFayette, N.Y./LaFayette), Justin Kohlbrenner (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger), Ryan Spillett (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and Jeff Sanford (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt/Herkimer CC) netted second quarter goals for Le Moyne.

Senior attack Jim Cianfrocca (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) pulled Nazareth to within a goal with the first of his two scores 12 seconds into the second half. Junior Josh Lewis (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) and Goodberlet netted extra-man goals to return the 6-5 lead to the Golden Flyers.

Le Moyne regained the lead in the first three minutes of the final quarter. Sophomore Mike Moran (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) and Sanford converted off feeds from Spillett to garner a 7-6 lead for the Dolphins.

After Nazareth junior Jarod Koopman (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) knotted the contest at seven, senior midfielder Mark Pallifrone (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) collected a loose ball in the offensive zone and rifled it past Nazareth goalkeeper Rob Carroll (Elmira, N.Y./Horseheads) for Le Moyne's last lead with 9:22 remaining. Rosencrans tallied the game-tying goal 35 seconds after Pallifrone's goal and returned the lead to the Golden Flyers for good with shot that beat Le Moyne goalkeeper Tom Kimble (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) to the lower left corner with 3:08 left in the contest.

Cianfrocca tacked on an insurance goal just over one minute later. Kimble went the distance between the pipes and made 11 saves for Le Moyne, while Carroll was credited with eight stops for Nazareth. Saturday evening, Le Moyne hosts fifth-ranked C.W. Post at the Carrier Dome. Faceoff time for that Division II showdown is set for 5 p.m.
